The artist has always had a fascination with trains, and at an early age they inspired a sense of wonder. As we age and become adults, we lose our sense of wonder about the world around us. This image was based on the idea of recapturing that sense of wonder. Yet it also reflects how we lose the wonder as we age. Through conversations with a local who worked on these types of locomotives, and his vivid description of how “…they all leak oil. Bad!” The reality that these are physical, working machines takes hold.
